About Psychological Injury Management

Our Injury Management Program is tailored for individuals who have experienced bullying, harassment, or a traumatic incident in the workplace.

The program will provide information to assist participants in understanding the impacts of a psychological injury. It also supports the development of skills that promote recovery, resilience, and a return to meaningful daily functioning.

This program may be suitable for you if:

  • You have suffered a psychological injury that may be impacting your emotions, behaviours and interfering with social and professional aspects of life.
  • You have experienced bullying or harassment in the workplace.
  • You have had a traumatic event during your employment.

What you will experience

Throughout this program you will participate in group sessions lead by a qualified Allied Health Professional. Each session will support you to use new skills to guide, inspire and motivate yourself to set goals, take action and enrich your life. You will practice applying skills in your own day-to-day before the next session. Bring what you have learnt and experienced to each group for feedback and input.

Treatment objectives

Objective 1

Acceptance and Self-Compassion – Learn how to accept your thoughts and feelings and how to use self-compassion to acknowledge your situation while responding kindly.

Objective 2

Connection – Learn the concept of mindfulness and use skills to maintain connection with the present moment to reduce suffering and increase productivity and acceptance.

Objective 3

Understanding Anxiety – Learn what symptoms you may experience with anxiety, explore your own experience with anxiety and start to practice anxiety management strategies.

Objective 4

Understanding and Managing Anger - Learn how to respond and regulate stressful emotions more effectively via practical strategies.

For you to access this program, you will need a valid referral from a medical practitioner to a psychiatrist with admission rights to Deakin Private Hospital. General enquiries about this program can be made by calling 02 5114 8100.

How much does it cost?

Patients are admitted as a day patient and as such, can claim their attendance via their health fund. We ask that patients confirm any applicable out-of-pocket excess or gap costs directly with Deakin Private Hospital by calling 02 5114 8100.

Who will find this program helpful?

People who have experienced bullying or harassment in the workplace or have had a traumatic event during their employment.

How long does this program run for?

This group is held every week for twelve weeks on Mondays or Tuesdays (select preferred day).

When is the next intake?

This program is run on Mondays or Tuesdays, from 9am. The next programs commence; Monday 28th July, Tuesday 16th September, Monday 17th November or Tuesday 6th January 2026.
