This program takes an abstinence approach to recovery whilst providing guidance and planning for relapse management. The philosophy of this program is one of empowerment and self-guided change.
Incorporating mindfulness practice and emotion regulation skills, participants will learn to build and manage a life without the addictive behaviour that is both rewarding and meaningful.
Throughout this program you will participate in group sessions lead by a qualified Allied Health Professional. Each session will support you to use new skills to guide, inspire and motivate yourself to set goals, take action and enrich your life. You will practice applying skills in your own day-to-day before the next session. Bring what you have learnt and experienced to each group for feedback and input.
Understand key factors associated with positive recovery by defining the problem and consequences of an addictive lifestyle.
Understand the importance of relapse prevention and apply cognitive-behavioural model to provide a scaffold for intervention.
Identify Early Warning Signs - reflect on past and present patterns of addictive behaviour and explore knowledge of how to get 'back on track'.
Learn the different types of temptations, and when you are most tempted to engage in the addiction. Employ new strategies to manage cravings and urges; self-care, the3D's and Urge Surfing.
Learn new healthy approaches to thinking including how to recognise unhelpful thinking patterns and take steps to change your thinking, emotions and behaviours.
