Deakin Private Hospital is proud to introduce the Neurodivergent Skills Inpatient Program — a specialised program designed to support neurodivergent individuals through structured, evidence-informed care focused on building practical skills, confidence, and long-term wellbeing.
Developed in response to the growing need for tailored mental health services, the program provides a supportive inpatient environment where participants can access multidisciplinary care while developing tools to navigate daily challenges.
The Neurodivergent Skills Inpatient Program is designed for young adults aged 18–25 who identify as neurodivergent and may benefit from structured, specialised mental health support within an inpatient setting.
Neurodivergent individuals often experience unique challenges that are not always addressed within traditional mental health settings.
The Neurodivergent Skills Inpatient Program has been created to provide a safe and understanding space where patients feel supported, respected, and empowered.
The program focuses on helping participants build essential life skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop strategies that can be applied beyond their hospital stay. Through structured therapeutic approaches and personalised care planning, participants are supported to work towards meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
The Neurodivergent Skills Inpatient Program combines specialist clinical expertise with a structured, supportive environment tailored to neurodivergent needs.
Key features include:
This collaborative approach ensures that participants receive holistic care while developing strategies that support independence and long-term wellbeing.
Participants engage in a structured daily program that will include therapeutic groups, skills-based activities, creative therapies and opportunities to regulate in low-stimulus environments. The inpatient setting allows for consistent support while fostering a sense of community and shared understanding.
Dr Ash Vaikyl, Psychiatrist at Deakin Private Hospital and a key contributor to the creation of this program, highlights the importance of tailored support:
“Programs like this recognise that neurodivergent individuals benefit from environments that understand and adapt to their unique strengths and challenges. Our aim is to provide structured support that empowers people with practical skills and greater confidence.”
By offering specialised care, the program aims to bridge gaps in existing services and provide a pathway towards improved quality of life.
Seeking support can feel overwhelming, but accessing the right environment and team can make a significant difference. The Neurodivergent Skills Inpatient Program is designed to provide compassionate, structured care that meets individuals where they are and supports meaningful progress.
